Action
FG Troches Meiji has a broad antibacterial spectrum due to the synergistic action of fradiomycin sulfate and gramicidin-S HCl.
Fradiomycin sulfate, the same substance as neomycin which was discovered by Waksman and Lechevalier (1949), is effective against gram-positive, gram-negative, acid-fast bacteria as well as actinomyces.
Gramicidin-S HCl is mainly effective against gram-positive bacteria including penicillin-resistant strains. When used together, they show synergistic action and becomes effective against a broad range of pathogenic bacteria.
FG Troches Meiji, unlike other conventional troches, has the shape of a doughnut to prevent danger of suffocation.
Its sweet taste makes it easier to administer to infants and small children. The troche is designed to be dissolved easily in the mouth and act directly upon the mucous membrane of the oral cavity, the pharynx and the upper respiratory tract. Thus, it is effective in the treatment and prevention of infections in the oral cavity and the pharynx.
